Beethoven’s Septet
Timothy Young – Distant Waters
Ravel - Gaspard de la nuit
Beethoven – Septet in Eb Major op.20
Concert 2 features Ensemble Liaison’s own Timothy Young in two ways, firstly as composer, opening with his second composition, Distant Waters, a set of variations on a theme with interesting origins, secondly as pianist, performing the virtuosic extremes of Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit. After which we are delighted to team up and expand our forces with many special guests, Dale Barltrop from the Australian String Quartet along with the distinguished staff and talented students from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. This colourful array of instruments will come together to present one of Beethoven’s most popular works, his Septer in Eb major op.20.
Guest Artists: Dale Barltrop, violin, Carla Blackwood, horn, Lyndon Watts, bassoon, Students from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music
